Endless Beginnings...

I'm reading a piece this evening at City Central Library in Stoke on Trent. Two talented authors, Jan Edwards and Misha Herwin have created the quarterly 6x6 Reading Café, the first of which begins at 7pm this evening. It's brilliant concept that involves six authors each reading a six-minute piece on a given topic. I've seen the line-up for this evening and I can say with certainty that it'll be highly thought-provoking and hugely entertaining.

The theme for this evening is, fittingly, "Beginnings". After some thought I remembered a life-changing morning some years ago, on a Scottish mountainside, watching dawn break over the Merrick. It had been a particularly dark night, spiritually as well as physically and I'd given up trying to sleep and gone for an early morning climb. Watching that dawn I realised that every second is a beginning, and that now is the only time that exists. A million beginnings later, that lesson still lives with me. It had to be written down*.

Jan and Misha have come up with something with outstanding potential. I wish them a spectacular beginning.

I've now posted the piece on this site. You can read it here.
