Grandads All

I mentioned finding David Bremner's blog in my last post. Yesterday I had the chance to meet him and his fellow restorer, Theo Willford, and to get up close to their fabulous aeroplane. She really is stunning, doubly so in my opinion because of the copious staining from the castor oil with which she's  coated herself. We got together, along with my brother and his old mate Bruce Monk to compete for Euro-Nerd of the Year and had a splendid afternoon in the process. Honours were declared even and we resolved to share the Golden Anorak.

Given that 1264 was David's grandfather's mount a centrury ago, it's fitting that several centuries of grandads should line up for the photo above. Left to right are David Bremner, me, some actor bloke, Bruce Monk, Theo Willford and Richard Chillingford.

I've nicked the photos from David's blog as all the piccies I took were of details I need to adjust to make my Scout illustration more accurate.

Must go now, my Kangol's come undone.
